Spatial Rhythms

My oil paintings explore different methods of abstractly depicting landscapes. I experiment with interesting shapes and bright colors to best represent my chosen images, in recognizable ways or by creating completely new spaces. Many paintings are based on photographs of nature that I have taken. I have drawn these focusing on colors and shapes. Using these drawings as references, I paint them on large canvases. Other paintings are based on studies I have done listening to music. For these, I use music to guide my paintings, creating visual representations of continuous albums to share the soundscapes as I perceive them.
